The Gay Pride Parade on June 13th, 2014 in Tel Aviv, the final event of Gay Pride Tel Aviv, celebrates its 16th anniversary this year and promises to attract more than 120,000 participants from Israel and around the world, including about 25,000 Gay tourists, more than ever before.
The theme is 'Tel Aviv Marches Forward Toward Equality' and the celebrations will take note of last year's struggles and achievements and next year's challenges. The week long celebrations, beginning in various locations on June 6th, "will demonstrate in sound, color, music and cultural events that Tel Aviv-Jaffa, the city that never sleeps, believes in equality and pluralism and is the lighthouse of freedom...", to quote the Mayor of Tel Aviv, Ron Huldai.
Throughout the week there will be daily outdoor parties at Hilton Beach, events at Meir Park, the Gay Expo at Dizengoff Center focusing on fashion, food, health, tourism, events for families and youth, the 'TLVFEST' Gay Film Festival which will screen movies at the Cinemateque as well as a bicycle ride and a festive event in Kedumim Square in Jaffa.
Imagine the sights with thousands of people at Meir Park - old, young, families. Then, when the march begins, imagine the music from the stands of some of Israel's most famous DJs, the colorful floats, the laughter, the smiles, the dancing and the utter ecstasy.
The march will end at the Charles Clore Beach. This is where the famous Beach Party will go on until sunset. The DJs and Israeli and international artists will all be there. Israel's own Dana International will be the highlight and will put on a hysterical show, just what everyone has been waiting for.
