In the tradition of opera at the Masada National Park, Puccini's fiery drama reaches Masada. Puccini at his best, in a new spectacular production directed by Nicolas Joel and conducted by Daniel Oren with the Israeli Opera Chorus and the Israel Symphony Orchestra of Rishon LeZion, will be performed between June 4-13, 2015 as part of the Opera Festival.
The story - Angelotti escaped from prison. Cavaradossi is commissioned to paint Mary Magdalene. Cavaradossi hides Angelotti in his villa. Tosca, the renowned singer, is Cavaradossi's lover and is a jealous lover. The Chief of Police, Scarpia, learns of Angelotti's escape, ties the artist with Angelotti, and schemes to find Angelotti by torturing Cavaradossi. Tosca reveals Angelotti's hiding place. Angelotti kills himself. Cavaradossi rejoices Italy's defeat in the Franco-Italy war, Tosca kills Scarpia, Cavaradossi is executed, Tosca is found out and throws herself to her death.
