Beer Sheva River
At the Beer Sheva River (Nahal Beer Sheva in Hebrew) excavations have revealed a settlement dating back 6000 years. Settlers resided in underground houses hollowed out in the spongy soil on the banks of the river. Archaeologists are of the opinion that these houses were used by Nomads during the winter months. However they have still not discovered why they chose to build these houses underground. Many relics were excavated here including hand made clay pottery, flint tools and striking statuettes made of ivory.
