Hai Bar National Biblical Wildlife Reserve
Located on the outskirts of Eilat in Southern Israel, the Hai Bar National Biblical Wildlife Reserve is a unique safari filled with animals mentioned in the Bible. In this unique space, endangered desert species are not only protected, but also bred for release into the Arava and Negev Deserts.
The Hai Bar National Biblical Wildlife Reserve features an open area allowing guests to observe desert herbivores in almost natural conditions. This area features oryx (a unicorn-like animal), wild donkeys, ostriches and addax. There is another area for predatory desert creatures and reptiles, including wolves, leopards, foxes and hyenas. An indoor dark space allows firsthand views of nocturnal desert life and is filled with gerbils, fruit bats and owls.
Visitors can reach the Hai Bar National Biblical Wildlife Reserve from Road 90; it is near Kibbutz Yotvata, north of Eilat. Visitors remain in their personal car throughout all reserve tours. A tour takes approximately two hours. Guests can purchase an audio guide tape from the park's shop or hire a private guide to accompany and offer live explanation from their car.
The Hai Bar National Biblical Wildlife Reserve is open year round - Sunday through Thursday from 8:30 am until 5 pm, and Friday through Saturday until 4 pm. The Hai Bar National Biblical Wildlife Reserve also offers overnight camping grounds for tents and has sleeping trailers available for rent.
