Manger Square is an important square in the center of Bethlehem. It is named after the manger where Jesus is said to have been born. Manger Square is the main site for Christmas celebrations every year and a giant Christmas tree is placed there. It is the traditional spot where locals and pilgrims sing Christmas carols before the midnight mass at the Church of the Nativity. Manger Square is near the Church of the Nativity, the Church of St. Catherine and the Mosque of Omar.
