Palmach Museum
The Palmach Museum is an interactive museum that tells the history of an elite army unit in the Hagana military organization - the Palmach- the underground precursor to the Israel Defense Forces prior to Israel's establishment in 1948.
The Palmach Museum shares the exciting history of the Palmach unit in an innovative and personal format. Visitors tour the museum in groups, led by a multimedia presentation that features members of the fighting forces. The various members offer their individual stories, including motivations for making Aliyah, reasons for joining the Palmach and accounts of their experiences throughout the War for Independence. This format enables guests to learn the history chronologically while connecting to individual experiences. Moving through Palmach history as a group also allows for visitors to pick up on the team spirit for which this Hagana unit was known.
The ninety minute tour of the Palmach Museum includes various films, tone-setting scenery and a memorial hall with the names of Palmach soldiers who died fighting for Israel's independence.
Visits to the Palmach Museum must be pre-arranged and are offered in many languages.
