Sarona
Sarona was originally built as an agricultural community by German Christian Templers. They arrived in the late 1800s, built communities throughout the Land of Israel, created infrastructure for transportation, medicine , agriculture and other important industries. Their work greatly assisted early Zionists who modeled their settlements and methods along these lines. When the State of Israel was established, this section of Tel Aviv was taken over by the Kirya (various units of the Israeli Defense Forces), Tel Aviv’s Ministry of the Interior and the Azrieli Buildings – one of Israel’s largest and most influential commercial and corporate centers.
Today, Sarona is under construction once again. The vision for this historic section of Tel Aviv is one that combines its history with the city’s modern needs and character. Once finished, Sarona plans to host a Visitors Center, a large pedestrian area filled with renovated buildings that feature a wide variety of shopping, options , restaurants, cafes and nightlife. It will be a new shopping experience for Tel Aviv residents used to indoor malls. Sarona Tel Aviv will include seven new office towers, six residential buildings, as well as a state-of-the-art business hotel and large conference facilities. Sarona Tel Aviv will also features pathways leading to other featured sections of downtown Tel Aviv, as well as areas for outdoor concerts and festivals, grass areas and tables for picnics, outdoor film screenings and public garden courtyards.
