Israel Heritage Tour - The stage is set &ndash We begin this tour at 16 Rothschild Boulevard, Tel Aviv, the home of Meir and Zinna Dizengoff, Tel Aviv's first Mayor. This building is now the Independence Hall Museum. Picture yourself there on Friday May 14th 1948 with David Ben Gurion, members of the National Council, representatives of the Jewish settlements and the Zionist movement when he proclaimed the establishment of the Jewish State, Israel. As you know, the moment the State of Israel was established, war broke out with the Arab settlers. The armored corps memorial museum at Latrun on the way to Jerusalem, commemorates these battles and the fallen soldiers. A short drive to Rehovot brings you to the Ayalon Institute which tells the story of a secret underground factory established by the Hagana which manufactured more than 2 million bullets during 1945-1948. Above ground the Ayalon Institute was used for training young people for kibbutz life. There is no end to the amazing stories surrounding the establishment of the State of Israel.
